Does anyone know of a good site where I can learn about computer programming?

Which one is best to start with? I heard a lot of people recommending C++. What about Visual basic?

Well currently I am in school for programing and I can say that VB is the best to start out with. The only problem is that vb is a worthless language and aside from vb script you will never really use it in a real world enviroment. From learning vb you move onto c++ and then java. From there you can pick from tons of languages depending on what you want to specialize in.
Reply:Your question's too broad. tell us wat area in software development you want to especialize in (e.g. accounting, web design, Game Dev, etc) so we can recommend an excellent language to use. These days, multi-language programming is not an uncommon scene among SD projects. but for starters, i strongly recommend Open-Source languages/Development Environments like wx Dev-C++ and/or wx Python. also use MySQL for database needs. So why open-source? coz by using it, you get to take home your profits and not worry about licensing/legal issues commonly cited from proprietary programming languages.
