I Want To Learn Computer Programming. But I don't have any knowledge in this field. And I don't even now how to started it. Please let me know where should I start it and I would like to learn it through online tutorial for free. Many thanks.
I Want To Learn Computer Programming?
If you really want to learn how to program a computer, I'd start with Python.
C/C++ and Java are very powerful languages, but they are also difficult to learn. Get a book that is an introduction to computer programming that uses Python as the language. The syntax is easy to learn so learning the fundamentals of programming won't be hindered by the language you use.
Also, Python is freely available, so cost won't be an issue.
Go to http://python.org for more.
Afterwards I'd go for C/C++. It is a standard language and the fundamentals learned in those languages can apply to Java and C#. You have to pay for some compilers, but some compilers are free as well. It depends on what platform you are using.
I'd avoid learning a language that locks you on to a specific platform, such as Visual Basic. Learn languages that are used on every platform.
Hope this helps.
Reply:first... what do you want to do... you can learn web programming, where do you want to see you program running, then you just need to look at google for...
ASAP or JavaScript: Web programming, but you also can use web templates from giocities or here, yahoo, but that is not programming.
C++: if you really want to be a programer, you will need to learn it, then any other language is something really easy.
Java:Easy... like a programming with lego, you just need to attach more classes... dont worry, it is very simple...
now... I only gave you some basic... do you want a tutorial free???
just go search for
"C++ tutorial" + Free
or
"Java tutoria" + Free
or anything plus free... the web is your friend... please focus in low level programming... nothing better than knowing how to understand your debugger.
well, you have enough information to start... those tutorial comes with informtion about compilers and instructions.
Reply:I think for a complete newbie to programming, it would be better to look for books in the library instead of online tutorials. The reason is, it's not difficult to find programming books that teach you everything from the start, like which software to install so that you have a place to type the codes, to compile and run them. It's the best place to learn the jargons too, coz the books will explain the basics instead of assuming that you've already done programming in other languages.
On the other hand, there are online tutorials which you can easily do a google or yahoo search for, but they're likely to assume that you have at least a little understanding of what programming is all about.
For me, I learnt java before I learnt other languages so I think 'Java' might be the word you can look out for at least for now.
