it's a news for me that javascript is a programming language. Well, it's not. Javascript is a scripting language. Although there is a dispute on the borders between scripting language and programming language, you can identify that Javascript is a REAL scripting language just by looking at it's name, there is a BIG script in it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
Note for you: You can't say a programming or sctipting language is bad or good, each has its own goodness and badness.
For example, starting with programming language, Basic is a language that is relatively easy to use, but Basic, especially VB has a flawed implementation of OOP.
C++, the most adored language by more advanced programmers, since it's basically one of the most powerful language, with a compareable ease of use, it has a great flaw of being having many chance to make a "syntatically correct" mistakes, meaning the compiler mightn't tell you that you've made some (big) mistake. Of course all language have holes for this, but C++ being the language that is very easy to be unnotified
Another popular prgramming language is Java (NOT javascript), it is maybe one of the most powerful language around, but it have performance issue, it's implementation is not really good.
-------
In scripting language, you also have this pro and cons. Javascript is the most widely used scripting language in the internet, and it have many features for it. VBScript is another language, which is a language that closely resembles VB, this language is VERY, and I mean VERY easy to use for VB programmers, they're almost the same language (unlike Java and Javasript). And you have to know that VB has much more user than any other programming language, even the "adorable" C++. But its largest disadvantage, is it's less supported by browsers compared to Javascript.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In other words, don't ask what language is best, choose one that fits your need (and your brain capacity)
What is the best second programming language to learn after JavaScript?
Yea I say C++. Good for you to learn.
Reply:C++ cause its so well used across the board! just look at jobs for programmers
Reply:Java is the best. No hassle of pointers and memory management. The best Object Oriented language in the real world.
C would be the best procedural language.
Javascript is not a programming language. It is a scripting languange. Very limited in what it can do.
Reply:Java is better
1. Is an object oriented programming language, like c, C++
2. Is esay to learn
3. Its Applet for web can be complementary to what you learnt in Javascript
4. It also have the application side
5. Investment in software is minimum, many free download
Reply:Try PHP. It is a server-side language that will greatly extend what you can do with the web.
Reply:yes, c++. Plenty of jobs for programmers there.
Reply:If you are into web development, I would say VBScript. You can use it in Active Server Pages to make your website more interactive.
Reply:Javascript is not really a programming language, it is a scripting language. A real programming language would be Java, C++, C# or Visual Basic. Your best bet would be to go with Java or C# ... C# is my preference because that's where all the money is at. You can make good money writing C# programs.
Reply:VB 6.0
haha!
