Must I learn all programming languages to become a good programmer?

No, you can not actually learn ALL the programing languages.

To be a good programmer, you need to have a logical and structured thinking, and then you can start learning different paradigms of programing.

Learning languages is actually the last thing. So, you should focus on thinking in a structured and logical way, and start programing in the language where you feel comfortable. There are many good languagues with specific strengths and you should get yourself acquainted with a few of those.

Must I learn all programming languages to become a good programmer?
Nope, you can be a jack of all trades if you want but its pretty much better if you would focus on one.

Its also good to focus on old programming languages such as C, BASIC, COBOL since they are the precursors to the new programming languages.

Theres not much you can do with those old programming language but it gives you the flexibility to easily learn new ones.
Reply:the good programmer is the prgrammer who made a good programs ...

make a class programms ... u will be a class programmer even if you know a one language .......

suppose that a person know english, japanees , spanish and he could only read and writes some simple phrases ... and a one person noe just english but he wrote poems and great stories .. which one do u want to be him ?
Reply:No need to learn all languages. Just one is enough. But you need to be a master on that and you need a knowledge about other supporting languages also.. For example:

JAVA(EJB, Servlets)

.net(XML, AJAX)
Reply:No, because I don't think that is possible.

However, if you learn one of the major problem languages (C++, Java) really well then switching to other programming languages shouldn't be that difficult.

You can learn about general programming structure, and that will help you become a good programmer also. Also, learning about the underlying technology can help you understand the higher-level languages better too. For example, learning about compiler design and digital logic.
Reply:Nope! You just need to master at least one of them and also master the art of logical thinking... thats what we call good programmers
