Is Python the best first programming to learn?

I am currently trying to learn C# and Actionscript 3.0. I am totally lost and was advised by a friend to learn Python to get the basics. Do you guys think it is true??

yes that guys thinks is quite true...phyton has clear, concise syntax that i think is very good to use to learn about programming but not really good to develop an application because the features is inferior if compare with PHP

Reply:For common programmers, Python is very difficult to learn and you never get the basics in that language. For a beginner, PHP is the most easiest language to learn even we are a really newbie in programming. I remember there's a acronym joke in PHP that stands for People Hate Python..
