Does one need to learn programming in order to learn web design?

No why would you

Does one need to learn programming in order to learn web design?
you need to learn HTML there are plenty of online tutorials on HTML

just google 'html tutorial'

but there is web designing sofware, even microsoft word can do it, you just save it as HTML
Reply:No, you can start building a simple website from http://geocities.yahoo.com
Reply:If you're going to use PHP and a Database then yes...
Reply:It will depend on the web page you will be designing

if you will be designing only a non-scripting page...

all you have to learn is a simple HTML or dream weaver and from there you can create fabulous web pages without being confused on codes and etc.

but if you want to have transactions on your page.... you have to learn java script or vbsript which needs programming ability and knowledge

But threes nothing impossible for a person want it to be possible....
Reply:usually they go hand in hand. to achieve that exact effect, that u have in u imagination, you should know how to manipulate it to be that way and that means html, css, and javascript. if you're flash designer, then it's millions of times better for u but u should still know actionscript.

dont be alarmed, just google what you want to do and there is usually always an answer. heck, don't google, just come here and we'll tell ya! dont be afraid though, these tools aren't meant to scare, they were meant to help you impliment what you want to do.
Reply:NO.

Most webdesign is really simple. You can use DreamWeaver, frontpage, or any WYSIWYG program to create a webpage.

If you do want to learn programming it is caled HTML. Hyper text markup language, and it is one of the easiest to learn.
Reply:Most so-called web designers use software to create their pages from existing templates and even copying other people's pages. For this you need to know nothing. To be creative or imaginative you need to know html at least. This gives much more flexibility. For advanced use you need to know languages such as php, asp or javascript along with some database knowledge.
Reply:that's depends on ur web site if its a static one then u don't need to learn any programming language u can use any web building tool like Front Page or Dream Weaver, but if u want to build a dynamic website u r going to need a programming language to do that such Java or php.
