Even if you learn how to write stories or learn the programs, maya ect. Why do schools make you learn it, is it team based to help others or just some requirement?
Is drawing really important in a video game career even if you learn how to use some of the programs; writing?
I am in advertising, so I can't comment on that. But I know everything from photo, video, web, print, and all well. From setting up a 4 colour print, digital editing of photos, pretty much an entire design firm. Knowing your field and the people's jobs you interact with is crucial for a good job. In my opinion anyway. You need to know how to talk to people you work with. How can you explain a problem if you don't have the personal experiences or even vocabulary to work with.
Knowing your field inside and out will be the difference from working in a lil booth all day for the rest of your life or one day owning the whole company.
