I want to learn some programming (I am 16)?

I am 16 years old and interested in programing just by looking at stuff on the internet and self teaching, what should I learn. I'm hoping for something that is useful or cool (you can do interesting stuff with it) any suggestions?

well if you want to learn php, you can... its a pretty horrable language in my opinion. For basic programming, learning either python, ruby, or scheme, and possably html, as they are fairly easy languages to pick up. scheme is pretty nice because its a sub-form of Lisp, which is a pretty cool programing language. However if you were to take an intro class to programming, they would probably either teach you python, ruby, or scheme.
Reply:well if you have no experience start with html, then move up to CSS and javascript. After that you should try php or maybe pearl, and then from that java and C++ look like a piece of cake.
Reply:learn some java..

if you wanna do hardcore low-level system stuff...learn c++..

after c++... java,php,actionscript..itll all be a piece of cake.
Reply:Try Marco in VB scripts with Excel or MS Word. The help menu is pretty helpful, then move on to ASP.net you will have chance to get on C/C++, Java, or C^. Next will be software structure and Database plus the IT knowledge..... From Internet, try the site below with HTML:

Reply:CSS, PHP, MySQL, Ajax would all be good to learn
