As a 16 year old, how and where can I learn programming and/or graphic designing?

I am a Senior in high school. I got my programming experience from my TI-83 Plus graphing calculator. There are a few reasons why I recommend learning from the TI-83 Plus.

1) Many students have these calculators making the programming accessible.

2) The calculator has a built in BASIC program editor, making on-the-fly programming easy.

3) The calculator has Assembly language capabilities, which is possibly the toughest computer language. If you learn this language, other languages with be easy to master.

4) A program converter/compiler called TIPower offers a C programming language for input to the calculator.

5) The small screen resolution and monochrome graphics makes the introduction to game graphics simple.

6) Almost all of the programs have been made by fellow users and can be downloaded for free at ticalc.org.

7) There are several Internet communities set up to provide new ideas and help with programming questions. Possibly the best community is Maxcoderz.

Learning how to program the TI-83 Plus was vital for my success in programming. The techniques I learned from both TI-BASIC and TI-ASM set a solid foundation for my understanding of programming.

Since my learning, I have easily expanded my knowledge to four different robotic programming languages, HTML/CSS, some Visual Basic, and some C.

It is best to start small and work your way up. This will give you a good idea of how programming works. Also, if you can figure out TI-ASM, then you will know if programming is right for you.

If you own a TI-83 Plus, I strongly recommend that you give it a try. If you'd like more information, feel free to e-mail me at...

There are lots of web design classes that you can probably take through your school but if you want to learn about photoshop for graphic design, i would check this out.

The best training i have ever gotten for photoshop has come through free video podcasts.

If you download itunes you can subscribe to the photoshop tv podcast and get a new episode for free every week.

Each episode is around 30-45 min and has a lot of good information on it.

The hosts works for adobe and is the president of the national association of photoshop professionals. (Scott Kelby)

The people who run it really know what the are talking about but they do tend to goof around a bit too...

Great information though.

I have learned more from that than any classes that I have taken.

Good luck!

Reply:I learned when i was about 13 or 14. I learned Web Programming by Reading HTML for Dummies. If your interested in Computer Programming i read a book on VB .Net and learned alot on how to do that also. So my advice, whatever you want to learn there are great books out there!!
